He has recently written The Mentoring Church, and his previous books include Elders in the Life of the Church and Conduct Gospel-Centered Funerals.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Dr. Owen Strachan joins me for a discussion on 5 reasons sermons fail. Dr. Strachan is the Director of the Center for Public Theology at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he also serves as Associate Professor of Christian Theology.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Dr. Frank Page joins me in a discussion on the preacher and the search committee. Dr. Page serves as president and CEO of the SBC Executive Committee. He has previously served in pastoral ministry for 35 years.

Brian is Associate Professor of Christian Theology and Expository Preaching; as well as, the Program Coordinator for Church Ministry at Boyce College and Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Dr. Tony Merida joins me in a discussion on becoming a Christ-centered expositor. Tony is the founding pastor of Imago Dei Church in Raleigh, N.C. He also serves as Associate Professor of Preaching at Southeastern Baptist Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Drs. Tom Elliff and Jon Elliff join me in a discussion on raising children in the ministry. Dr. Tom Elliff is the father of Jon, founder of Living in the Word Publications, former pastor for forty-two years, IMB president from 2011-2014, and also an IMB missionary to Zimbabwe. His son, Jon, is currently serving as teaching pastor at Makakilo Baptist Church in Hawaii.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Dr. Hershael York joins me in a discussion on keys to effective sermon illustrations. Dr. York is the Victor and Louise Professor of Christian Preaching at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Senior Pastor of Buckrun Baptist Church in Frankfort, Kentucky.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Drs. Timothy George and Christian George join me in a discussion on the Great Preachers of Church History. Dr. Timothy George is the dean of Beeson Divinity School at Samford University and has been the dean since the school’s inception in 1988. Dr. Christian George serves as the curator of the C.H. Spurgeon Library and as assistant professor of historical theology at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is also in the process of publishing the Lost Sermons of C. H. Spurgeon, A twelve volume project that will be releasing volumes yearly until the year 2023.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, H. B. Charles Jr. joins me in a discussion on his new book titled On Pastoring. H. B. is the senior pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida.
