This week on Preaching and Preachers, we introduced a new type of episode called “the mailbag.” In this episode, I answered questions submitted by listeners on a number of topics primarily concerning preaching and sermon preparation.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Dr. Owen Strachan joins me in a discussion on preaching with theological precision. Dr. Strachan is Associate Professor of Christian Theology, Director of the Center for Public Theology, and Director of the Residency PhD Program at Midwestern Seminary.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Dr. Steven Smith joins me for a discussion on essentials for text-driven preaching. Dr. Smith is senior pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock, AR, as well as Senior Preaching Fellow for the Spurgeon Center for Biblical Preaching at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Steve Dighton joins me in a discussion on the pastor and shepherding difficult sheep. Pastor Dighton serves as pastor emeritus at Lenexa Baptist Church in Lenexa, Kansas. He founded Lenexa Baptist Church in 1990 and served as their senior pastor until his retirement in 2015.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Dr. John Mark Yeats joins me in a discussion on the preacher as interim. Dr. Yeats serves as dean of students and associate professor of church history at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Spurgeon College.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Thom Rainer and Jonathan Howe join me for a discussion on the preacher and podcasts. Thom is the president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources. Prior to LifeWay, he served at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for twelve years where he was the founding dean of the Billy Graham School of Missions and Evangelism.

Jonathan serves as Director of Strategic Initiatives at LifeWay Christian Resources. He is also the host and producer of Rainer on Leadership and SBC This Week, and the managing editor of LifeWayPastors.com.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Dr. Ben Awbrey joins me in a discussion on the preacher and sermon introductions. Dr. Awbrey is professor of preaching at Midwestern Seminary. He has been teaching expository preaching since 1996 and he has written two books on preaching: How Effective Sermons Begin and How Effective Sermons Advance.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Burk Parsons joins me in a discussion on the preaching of R. C. Sproul. Burk is senior pastor of Saint Andrew’s Chapel in Sanford, Fla., a Ligonier Ministries teaching fellow, chief publishing officer for Ligonier Ministries, and editor of Tabletalk magazine.

This week on Preaching and Preachers, Dr. Danny Akin joins me in a discussion on the preaching of Adrian Rogers. Dr. Akin serves as Professor of Preaching and Theology, the Ed Young, Sr. Chair of Expository Preaching, as well as the President of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forrest, North Carolina.
