He previously taught at Western Seminary in Portland Oregon and received his Ph.D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is the author of numerous books including his most recent work, The Ascension of Christ: Recovering a Neglected Doctrine, along with Matthew, Disciple and Scribe: The First Gospel and Its Portrait of Jesus, and The Kingdom of God and the Glory of the Cross.
